Victoria and Esther

Meet the designers of Estelle Mantel clothing,an up and coming vibrant Zambian design team that has their sights set on taking Zambian fashion designs to new heights. They pride themselves in simple designs that are eye catching and riveting.

What do you celebrate about being a woman?

The beauty, the complexity, and the brutality of the life of an African woman, with the victory after every battle.

What do you wish other women knew?

Their value and their abilities, that they should end their dependence on a man, and that nothing, especially creativity, has any limits. Also, that their gender is not a negative factor but a positive one that they should embrace.

How do you express yourself creatively?

Through our work, and in each piece we do, breaking every limitation and venturing into the “unknown”.

How are you making a difference in the world?

By empowering our fellow youths (with employment and motivation) and doing what our fellow designers are afraid to do, like designing for men.

What do you believe is your calling and what are you doing about it?

We believe we can make a world of difference in the fashion world and we are doing just that in our own unique way.

How do you celebrate where you come from?

By incorporating African designs in our work, show-casing our rich heritage.

What do you consider to be the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome?

The lack of assistance from the government in their financial and other supportive roles, making this a very difficult undertaking.
